Shabbat Activities

Once a month JCS members and other interested members of the community get together to observe Shabbes. After Shabbes is welcomed in with songs, candlelighting and challah, there is a short thematic program, in which members of the congregation offer their thoughts about the theme, which is always tied in to one of the month's Torah portions. There's always more singing, lots of schmoozing, and plenty of dessert and coffee. Children are always welcome.

Tot Shabbat

Our tot shabbat program is lively and well attended. The focus is on our pre-school members and their grown-ups. Children learn the blessings over bread and wine, light the candles, sing songs and hear stories.  A fine fish sticks and macaroni and cheese dinner follows!
